It occured
to me recently that if I put my mind to it I could link up
a lateral crossing of the Sahara between the Nile and Atlantic. Thing is, it will
have taken me 15 years or more
and as many trips. All that remains
is a tiny stage
across the eastern Algerian oilfields
to the 'Algerian Tree' (right - see route
L2) - and eastern Libya from Waw Namus to a place east of Kufra where we spent Christmas Day 2003 on a Gilf trip based out of Egypt. As things stand now in Libya, ticking off that stage may take some time.
